INTERIOR DESIGN TRENDS FOR 2020

Rustic Minimalism
Neutral colours will be making a comeback in 2020. The clean lines, classic colours and minimalist style will be in many homes in the new year, but injections of rustic farmhouse style, with pebble wash finishes will be standing strong next to the typical Nordic and Scandi influences that resonate so well with the minimalist trend. Pine woods will take centre stage in dining rooms, our Wellington Extending Pine Table brings rustic farmhouse style to an interior when paired with warm neutral colours like soft greys, cosy creams and stone. Adding texture and tone to your space will be sure to take the edge off the minimalist sharp lines. Keep your tones muted, you could choose the velvet pink Chamonix will bring both texture and a delicate pop of colour to bland areas. The Whitewashed Dresser and matching Side Table would also bring rustic minimalist style to a period property or country cottage.

Sophisticated Art Deco
If you’re looking for grown-up glamour, the art deco revival could be the trend for your interior. Embracing the original art deco style, with geometric shapes and quality materials like velvet and opaline, the luxe of the 1930s is still apparent in this progressive style. Mixed materials are still welcomed, like the Carter Leather Swivel Chair which incorporates the sleek lines, chrome edges, warm chestnut brown colours and leather, all signature attributes to the new art deco style. The Bespoke Bar Units with copper, brass and zinc panelling inject metallic colours into the art deco revival trend.

Sustainability and Repurposing

Sustainability and natural elements will play a huge role in the commercial design sector next year. Recycled materials, reclaimed woods and upcycled items like this Industrial Style Coffee Table are an asset, as consumers are paying more and more attention to the places they visit – are they eco-conscious? Are they ethical? Zero-waste restaurants are creating havens where resources and products are reused, and nothing goes to waste. Our Eco-Friendly Chairs and Bar Stools are made from 100% recyclable materials (the seats and backs are 100% recycled plastic waste and the frames are British steel, of which 77.1% is recycled here in the UK) as well as being stackable, they are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. With growing concern over the state of the economy, biophilia is on the rise, so you can expect to see a mix of recycled, industrial style items and a lot of planting.

Scalloped Back Chairs

More than ever, consumers are looking for eye-catching designs and inspiring things to add to their social media accounts, this includes their Saturday night meeting places. No one wants to take selfies in a plain looking restaurant, people are looking for something to sit in that is shareable and quirky. With shell-like curves to the back of the chair and minimalist legs, the scalloped back chairs are very eye-catching and are tipped to be one of 2020’s biggest interior trends. The Salisbury Cocktail Chair is the perfect mid-century modern version, suitable for a contemporary bar or coffee shop, it even comes in Pantone’s Colour of the Year, Classic Blue. Another Instagrammable chair is the Granville Tub Chair, which sports plush velvet upholstery and would look fantastic in a boutique hotel or salon.

Glamorous Velvet
Perfect for those hoping to modernise their interior with just one small furniture upgrade, velvet upholstery is the way forward. The Chester Velvet Bar Stool will add a touch of luxury to a contemporary kitchen or bar, and the texture of the Pisa chair paired with its brass caps adds instant glamour to your restaurant or dining space. Whichever statement piece you choose to upgrade, taking the velvet plunge will be well worth the risk.
